Focus on God
GOD THE BUILDER

Any project that a builder attempts will start with a plan
which is then followed by tools and materials.  "In the
beginning God" opens the first chapter of the Bible.
God had no tools.  He had nothing to start with.  Before
anything was created all that existed was God.  I can
imagine that, if you're like me, your mind just can't go
there, but that was exactly the case.

God did not start with a protoplasmic blob.  He started
with nothing.  Nothing! (Hebrews 11:3)  Any inspiration
that man may have had to build started with something,
but God created with nothing.  Moreover, God did not
swing a hammer.  He only spoke.  The spoken word of
God is so powerful that out of nothing came all that is.
Oh, the power of God!  He speaks and trillions times
trillions of worlds are created.

God's plan came only from who he is and not from a
"How To" book.  By his infinite knowledge and wisdom
he created.  The complexity of creation is a testament
to the greatness of God.  "Since the creation of the
world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and
divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood
through what has been made." (Romans 1:20)

Man also is a builder.  In Genesis 11, man wickedly
planned to build for himself a city and a tower that
would "reach into heaven".  (Genesis 11:4)  Did man
doubt God's promise that he would not flood the world
again?  Did man take things into his own hands, trying
to protect himself?  Was man so far from God that they
forgot the promise and
love of God?  God had a plan
that he would have mankind inhabit the whole earth.
This world was built by the master builder for man to
enjoy from the east to the west.

Not only did God create all things for our enjoyment
(1 Timothy 6:17) but he also created a way for man to
have eternal life.  In a state of rebellion, hopelessness,
and despair, man was incapable of drafting out such a
thing.  God is the builder who crafted the perfect plan to
build a future for anyone who would only accept his love
and be in relationship with him.

One of the greatest verses in the Bible is John 3:17.
"God did not send the Son into the world to judge the
world, but that the world might be saved through Him."
God's plan that he had before any of us were born was
to save us from the self-inflicted tragedy of death.
"God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while
we were yet sinners, Christ died for us".  (Romans 5:8)

This is the wonderful Creator whom we worship:  The
Builder of all good things!  The next time you smell a
fragrant flower or see beautiful colours or taste your
favourite dish or hear a sweet sound, remember the
master builder provided it.  Worship the Creator of all:
Jesus, the Christ.
